How do I seed vertical demo data or clear sandbox demo records from my workspace?

To manage or clear sandbox demo data in YourMedSoft, click "Clear Demo Data" on the top portal banner or navigate to Settings > Demo Data (/portal/settings?tab=demo). From there, administrators can click "Seed Vertical Demo" to generate sample records for active verticals, clear demo records for a single collection, or click "Clear All Demo Data" to remove all sample records while leaving real production data untouched.

Access Demo Data Management
Click the "Clear Demo Data" button in the blue info banner at the top of your portal, or go directly to Settings > Demo Data (/portal/settings?tab=demo).
Inspect Demo Record Counts by Collection
The Demo Data Management table lists every Firestore subcollection in your workspace that currently contains sample records (staff, shifts, timesheets, assignments, facilities, clients, credentials, org_config, org_settings) along with exact record counts.

Seed Vertical-Specific Demo Data (Optional)
If you recently toggled on new healthcare verticals in Settings > Organization (such as Home Health, Hospital Float Pool, or Allied Health), click "Seed Vertical Demo" to populate realistic sample shifts and credentials for those markets.
Clear a Single Collection or All Demo Data
Click "Clear" next to an individual collection (e.g., shifts) to remove only those sample records, or click the red "Clear All Demo Data" button and confirm in the modal to purge all demo records across your entire organization at once.
Pro-Tips & Best Practices
- Every sandbox record is tagged with `is_demo: true` in the database. Clearing demo data NEVER deletes or alters real staff, facilities, shifts, or invoices you have created yourself.
- You can hide the top blue Demo Banner without deleting sample records by clicking the X dismiss icon on the right side of the banner.
Troubleshooting & Operational Edge Cases
Issue: Demo banner no longer shows at the top of the dashboard, but demo records still exist
Operational Resolution: The banner was dismissed. You can still manage and purge all demo records at any time under Settings > Demo Data (/portal/settings?tab=demo).
Frequently Asked Questions & Troubleshooting
Will clearing demo data delete the real nurses or facilities I already entered?
No. The /api/admin/clear-demo endpoint strictly filters for documents where `is_demo == true`. Any real record you created or imported via CSV is 100% preserved.
